Bought a New Horse Yesterday - Pics

A mustang that is //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

1966 GT model, optioned with HO 289 & 4 speed in the floor, PS & PB, Pony Interior, 4 wheel discs. Car was stolen in 1978 and stripped of the original engine/*****, and front/rear GT bumpers, other than that its all there. Its been sitting in the same spot since i was born, and 10 years before that. Ive found a numbers matching 289/4sp combo i may pick up for it, but i already have a strong 408w and 4 Speed toploader to slap in her after i do some other work like get the brakes working and undercoat the whole thing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

Looks bad, but its actually not. The people who stole it apparently sanded some of the paint off, so it has light surface rust, no through rust. One of the best bodies ive seen actually. No dents either. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

First thing i did was clean one of the taillight lenses, shows some potential, lol.

I meant to get some pics of its 30 yr resting spot but we were in a hurry to pull it since it was raining, so i got a pic of when we first pulled it out and got it on the trailer. Sad it was neglected like it was, but good for me. Got it for 200 bucks. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Yea, ladies brother was the original owner. More pics to be had soon, im working on alot of things right now. Blew the engine in one of my daily drivers so im swapping a new one in this week, and wont have much time to work on the stang. I plan on cleaning it up some more tommorow, investigating what shape the floor pans are in and etc. Gotta put it up on jackstands and do the nasty underside work.

Once i get the brakes going and good tires on it its going to a buddies house to get the engine and ***** installed. Then possibly to paint sometime this year. Im trying to sell a fourwheeler ive got to fund some more resto on my 67 falcon sports coupe, cant spend my savings on it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Restoring a bunch of cars at the same time is a hard thing to do.

I know what you mean //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Where was it sitting since you were born? Chances are the whole bottom is rusted out. Stangs under carriages tend to rust pretty bad for some reason!! Start there, and see if it is worth it.

I was gonna ask about the frame...by the looks of it, you just spent $200 on scrap metal and rust. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

I am with you there! working on my '73 Mach One, '87 GT/460 and my FC/SBF as well.

subframe... I doubt it is nearly as bad as you think. I bought a car form here in Iowa that sat ON THE GROUND, no wheels/tires for like 15+ years. Once I dug it out and everything, she was one of the most solid cars I have found around here!

hell, entire floor boards are a couple hundred bucks. For the price he paid, even if it need floors, quarters, torque boxes, and a trunk floor, still worth it IMO.

I checked all that before i bought it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif I know how stangs rust, ive dealt with it before. Has some rust in the drivers side rear floor, about a 10x10 patch will probably be needed. Frame is solid, trunk is solid. Not even the original batt tray is rusted out. A small spot in the drivers rear quarter too, i can probably clean that up and spot weld it though.

Exactly...for 200 i couldnt pass it up. It needs alot of work, but ill pull through. Its like an investment of sorts. I know alot of people that are going to help me with it.

Has potential to be a rats nest.
Already has been. Also had termites, maybe the termite and rat shit absorbed the moisture and kept most of the rust away?

piece of shit
Sitting like it is, its worth more than your daily driver. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
