Bought 10W3v3-4 not hitting as hard as I hoped

I have not heard anything ported in a very long time... and i'm not trying to be a jerk, but how do you guys know to go bigger then spec, from personal experience?
I have designed many boxes for JL subs and they always do better bigger than spec. It's like they spec them to save as much space as possible but that is the target buyer so it works. The target buyers don't even know it's a SQ company to begin with

So how would sound with a bigger sealed box, if you can give me some info on that.

go ported. I used to be all about sealed boxes until I built my first ported box for my 4 15s. I like low bass, but not just any kind of low it has to be clean with no port or motor noise. ported boxes sound exactly like a sealed box would but it can be twice as loud. if built right.
