Boston GT-24 amp going straight into safe mode

I installed my two new amps this past weekend (MB Quart DSC4125 and Boston GT-24) to replace my old Kicker Zx700.5 5-channel. The MB Quart works perfectly, as did my last amp (for 3 years), as well as my entire carputer setup. But the GT-24 played for about 5 seconds and then went into safe mode. I disconnected everything, checked the connections, and waited 10 minutes, but I can't find anything wrong. Even with all the audio outputs and inputs disconnected, it still goes straight into safe mode when I turn the car on.

Wiring:

Power: Batt--> 0 gauge --> 125 blade fuse --> gold plated distro block ---> 0 gauge to each amp

Ground: Thoroughly sanded bolt point in trunk --> 0 gauge --> gold plated distro --> 0 gauge to each amp

I have no alternator whine, no static, etc. Is this just a bad amp that I should return or is there something else I should try? HELP!

Have you tried to unplug the remote wire for at least 30 mins to reset the amp?

boston tech guy told me to unplug everythng, then after 30 mins put your power wire & negative in before plugging in the remote wire which should be last.

yes its bridged to a 2ohms mono load (IDQ12d4 wired in parallel). when i supply it on with just ground, power, and remote, it goes straight to the red light.

Try removing all wires from the amp and then touch a wire to the positive and negative terminals on the amp to completely discharge all the caps inside. After that, hook up the power and see what happens. Sometimes the protection circuit on the Boston amps can get ''stuck'' and hold a ''memory'' of sorts.

check your ground wire for the amp. it can make your amp protect if it doesn't get a good connection... other than that, it probably has a internal short somewhere (outputs transistors) that is causing it to go into protect ...

pop the bottom off and post a pic..

I tried it one last time today. There are a few small sparks the first time the power wire touches its terminal. Im positive it's not shorted to the ground in my wiring, so it must be something internal. Time to send it back.
