I just scooped up a boston g5 for 50 bucks but I haven't hooked it up yet anyone tried this? What did you think about it(sq/spl)and was 50 w/prefab box(building one soon work permitting) a good deal, all mint?

Ive heard them and they sound great.. These are sq subs IMO.

well it sounds awesome on my T600.2 bridged at 4ohm not as loud as my T1 was but it's in a prefab atm.

Well it turns out this sub doesn't like 350w over rms, the vc is kind of dark and it just now popped a fuse after a week of hard play but thankfully it still reads a perfect 4ohms so we'll see how long it holds up!

Omg I love my G5s! After months of research I finally built a ported box for them. 4 cubes after sub/bracing displacement, 2 4 inch external aero ports at 33hz. Wow!!! They really wake up when you port them. Sealed they are power hungry and will handle at least the 700wrms my amp puts out. In the new ported setup it takes very little to get them going good. I plan on getting them metered very soon. Download the owner's manual and build a ported box to their specs. FWIW the sub's displacement is 220sq inches or .1273 cu ft. The manual doesn't list that. You can pick up the sps soft part replacement for about what you paid for it if you feel the need to recone.

I'll agree they come to life in a ported box! Got mine in 2.0 cubes @ 34hz sounds awesome and gets pretty loud.

where have you found the recone for cheap? I'm not sure about doing it yet though. also have you popped a fuse yet?
