One of my friend has a pair of the 10" model. They claim like a 2" xmax from peak to peak which upon listening to his system and seeing the sub movement for the recommended low rms, is obviously overrated. For the price my friend paid from a local car audio place (roughly $170 each), someone could do much better with a different pair of subwoofers.
The speakers themselves don't sound as good as I would expect from Boston Acoustics. I figured this subwoofer would be a very good SQL subwoofer with decent SPL. It turned out the subwoofer was about average as far as SQL was concerned, and SPL was much the same.
If I were you I'd look for a different subwoofer, but that's just my $.02
