I have been looking for some components and an amplifier to power them and i may have found something. I was wondering if you audophile's could give some imput.

Boston Acoustics GT 28 Amplifier

# 200w x 2ch @ 4ohm

# 350w x 2ch @ 2ohm

# 700w x 1ch @ 4ohm

# 1000w x 1ch @ 2ohm

Boston Acoustics Pro 60 series 6.5' components 125watt RMS @ 3ohm...

Anyways the question is do you think these components and the amplifier are worth 500$. Do you think i can do better than this with 500$....e.g. crystal ssc6 and an amp... or something else

Also, would this amplifier be too powerful for the pro 60's. I have read that they like power but would... ~275 or so be too much since they are rated at 125.

If yes this amp is to powerful, would this amplifier be a good amp to power my

12 w7 with, since the amp would do around......~850 i guess( guesstimate i forget what the actual equation is).

I apologize for the long post just trying to make a good decision. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You're right, it was for both //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I think I got quoted $500 for just the amp when I listened to it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

In that case, it's not bad at all.

Yeah it is for both. Thanks for the input so far. The only other question i have is if i bought these pro 60's and the amp, is this amp too powerful for the components. Would it be better off for me to use that amp for my 12w7 and then get another 2 channel that is closer to 125rms?

I listened to a pair of Boston GT series amps a few years back, and while they're really nice amps and will probably last you for years, they aren't worth $500.
I'm sorry. I don't follow...If they are really nice amps, and will probably last you for years, how are they not "worth" $500?? Mine actually cost $435, but if you think they are really nice, what's your reservation about? What do you base your price/value estimate on?

Spellman, I'm planning on using that very setup. I'll be using another GT28 for a 2 ohm SPG555 sub. Ask Blue what he thinks of your idea. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

Do a search for pro60's here and you will find that a lot, if not most, people that have them run way more than their rated 125. More like 200 - 300.

Yeah i had found that whosaywho i was just wondering if that amp was too much. Thanks for the confirmation.

Anybody have any additional input on using this amp (Boston Acoustics GT 28) on my 12w7? Can i do much better for 300$ which is what i can get the amp for separate from the components.

My own personal opnions //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I think there are amps that do just as well for less...so I can't personally justify paying the extra for the Boston name.

I install Boston stuff every day..

I like the sound the operation & the look.. price is about the same as the rest of the amps in its class.. The only thing I dont like about the Boston Amps is the mounting feet.. they are plastic slidable is cool plastic is a pain.. but if you have an amp rack your all good..

GT28 is a great amp overall..

Peace Troy
