Boston Acoustics Pro Series LF 12's = Sound Quality LOUD !!!

Well .... I've waited a while to do this , but it's time for a review of the best subs I've owned in 23 yrs ....

I bought a pair of 10" Pro LF's about 6 years ago , and remember falling completely in love with them .... I sold that car with the system , and wish I knew why in HOLY HELL it took me so long to get back to the Boston Pro subs !!! Since that time , I have owned Image Dynamics , JL Audio , Focal , Dynaudio , Diamond Audio , and Alumapro subs ..... Whew !! Some of those subs were REALLY good , but I always wanted better , and felt I had heard better subs .... somewhere back in my memory.

I went to listen to the new Boston sub lines , and was not as impressed as I had been with their Pro LF series ... so I called Boston Acoustics for their thoughts , and they told me they still HAD a stock of the pro LF subs !!! I ordered a pair of 2 ohm 12" subs right then , and have been listening to them in my car for about 5 months now.

With the Arc Audio amp giving them 540 watts each ( in their 1 cu ft sealed boxes ) , they simply do EVERYTHING right. It is the best resolution , speed , and clarity I've ever heard from subs in a car. As far as getting loud , THEY GET REAL , REAL , REAL loud !!! They always sound natural and athoratative , without EVER blurring or distorting.

Simply put ..... They are the best subs i've ever owned .... and i've owned MOST of the best sub offerings at one time or another.

Cheers

pics? j/w if they are the ones my buddy use to have. Glad to hear you got reunited with your children //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif.

I had a 12lf before my RE. Mine was in a 1 cu. sealed. I agree with you about being a good all around woofer. A couple of peeps here told me they weren't impressed with them, i find that hard to beleive. With 600w that thing wanged like nothing else with outstanding sound quality.

I had a pair of the 12.5LF's.....for all of about 6 hours until I smoked them both //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif They were my first "expensive" sub purchase.

This was back in my young and nieve days...clipping was what the lady at the salon did to my hair, not something my amplifier was capable of.......

Oh well, ended up "trading" those in (long story) for a pair of Eclipse 88120DVC's and was more than pleased //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

just curious....what series of ID, JL and Diamond did you own?
Sure .... The ID was the SQ version of about 5 years ago .... I'm afraid i don't remember the model of those .... They were NOT cheap.

For JL I had the W1 , W3 , W6 and W0 ..... I HATED the W3s , and actually thought the W0's sounded the best of theJL's , especially for the price. The W6 was the old series ( 6 yrs ago ) and they were muddy.

The Diamonds were the best of the ones you asked about. I had the CM-3s in a small sealed box , and they were VERY good ! Clean and tight , but lacking in output. I also had the D6 in Diamond's slot loaded enclosure , and that thing POUNDED BALLS !!! But I'm a sealed type of guy , and I could always hear the slight blurring of the transients.

HTH
