Boomintahoe

So as it turns out I need a whole new distributor. Mechanic dropped by earlier today and saw the work I did...all I did was pull off the cap and rotor. Tried putting new rotor on. Somehow he noticed a small piece broken off of the distributor, not sure how I missed it but could explain why it didn't want to fit onto it. 200 bucks later....which includes another part I needed that he saw. Somehow I was leaking coolant but couldn't figure out where. 2 hoses from the heater core, there's a plastic piece in between them, it's failing and once vehicle is running, he noticed it was leaking right away. Wtf I didn't see these things is beyond me. Perhaps it was because its underneath the air filter and I was constantly looking under the vehicle. Runs much smoother now....the new cap/rotor he jimmy rigged to turn over and worked. Will have it back on the road tomorrow.

Its that plastic piece that leaks from the very edge where the hose slides on..
I just pushed fhe hose further in and clamped it hard.

That s4cks tho a new distributer.. i hate changing them out.

Ya...may have a crack in it, but cannot see it. I've never changed a distributor. Figured I let an expert do that....doesn't look hard but I dunno if a timing light is needed either which I don't have.

Ya 200 bucks later.....and just before holidays. I hope I can gain some ot to make up lol

Nah its the hose that withers down and seeps coolant thru.
Yes a timing light is needed or else your tahoe will run rough or not start at all, but it only has to be close to run right.

Annoying thing to do when you have to do it by yourself starting it and looking lol.

So you think I should replace those hoses? They do look old but looking at it when it's dark outside at a black hose makes it difficult to see!!

Take a look before you do it lol, it comes as one from the autoparts.

Tahoe's fixed. Now it needs a new battery lol. Guess my Optima being 6-7 years old, didn't like the very low voltage drop and combined cold weather makes it worse too. Wouldn't hold a charge. Gonna go get a new one. But not Optima. Fawk that!!

Ewww, optima...
Just get a normal agm from the auto parts.

I have been lazy with mine, i noticed after upgrading alternator wire the voltage on dash stays nears 11v lmao.

I guess the dash is sh1t.. either way i have that tiny a$$ ground that needs upgrading.

Im thinking of just letting this tahoe go and going 2018 chevy tahoe instead.

I wish I never sold my Tahoe... or crx -_-
350 vortec is the worst platform of tahoes [emoji23]??.
Its very cheap and easy to maintain, but the heat the engine produces and the designs makes it very easy to burn its internals quicker then normal.

Not to forget the 350 vortec was redesigned and put into production by gm as a crate engine which says alot.

It just needed some tweaks to be the best engine to produced for a lifetime.

Gotta Interstate ftw!! What's the resting voltage....should be around what area numbers? I got 12.4

Don't sell yours man.....it looks great. They're easy to maintain/work around with vs. newer ones.

My resting voltage is 12.5, buts its a normal acid battery. I havent done audio stuff to the tahoe yet.

Also just recently plasti dipped it black lmao.. all spray painted via cans.

Took me 6-8 hours of constant spraying.

Dayum....dats a lotta cans! Pics? Oh and my Tahoe started right up after new battery. Looks like I got stronger voltage now lol....eventually gonna get another battery to put in the storage area to have stronger voltage.

You would think so, but i only used 6 cans and yet to do the roof since it needs sanding from **** paint peeling.
Plasti dip needs way more to have a nice coat to still be easily peelable.

So i got more work, but ill try and get pics tomorrow.

And yes go 2 agms!
