I always use bondo, for the rough work, bondo extreme for finish work. Just dont sand to soon or it will smear a bit.

imo if you are filling a gap in a speaker ring, id use kitty hair,

if applying over the whole enclosure to sand down, bondo brand is just fine ( if your not painting)

yes, im just filling in. i want to put it over the face of the enclosure and then i will be covering with vinyl, no paint. so is the rage gold necessary for what im doing or is bond fine?

Bondo is fine, and a rough sand. Vinyl is forgiving and will allow for variances in finsih quality.

yep , and if your just trying to make a smmoth tranistion between the ring and the face of the enclosure . Chamfer the outside top edge of the ring a little. I don't agree that vinyl "hides more imperfections" It may hide pin holes that would show up in paint . But it won't hide any surface flaws such as dips , or bumps.
