ah, stealing wood. wish the lumberyard a few blks away had mdf :/ .. friends steal plywood and 2x4s from there all the time lol.

easy to work with, very uniform/consistent, its a pretty dense/dead material, cheap, it doesnt really resonate very much

"Good sound" doesn't come out of it, people use it because it's relatively cheap for the damping ability it has. There's nothing wrong with using solid hardwoods, but you would go broke trying to get it thick enough to be acoustically dead.

Baltic birch ply is another good material for speaker cabinets, but it's twice the cost of MDF.

thats its glue will kill you after a long time of cutting it.

yeah just be sure u use a mask with the mdf, u can sometimes get away with other sawdusts, but mdf is like paint overspray, it's that fine
