BMW Install

I have a 94 BMW 325i 4dr sedan. I have a JL enclosure ( dual 12 in) in the trunk but I have heard of mounting smaller dual subs in the spare tire well via a fiberglass molded enclosure. Anybody ever done this and what is the resulting performance of the subs used as far as the base response rattle etc? I would like to stay with JL cause I love them but I know there is a size limit.

fiberglass is a *****. No joke. A *****. So unless you have some experience, i'd shy away from your first project being something of that magnitude.

If you already got a box, more than likely it will have more airspace than the enclosure you're talking about. I simple terms, you'll onlly lose a little volume. If your current box is sealed, of course.

x2

Do not fiberglass unless you have some time for a huge, time consuming project. Its really not that hard to do, it just takes some time and effort to get it to look good.

I do not plan on doing it myself I got a pro that will do it for a reasonable price. Another issue is the smell though, how long till it is tolerable for driving?

I really don't mind the smell, it'll probably be strong only for a few days, you may still be able to smell it for a week or two.

^Pretty much sums it up.

It's a pain in the *** to work with, mainly b/c of the mess and the amount of time it takes. However a well done fiberglass job looks so much better, and in the end it usually justifies the work put in. If your good enough you can do some pretty amazing stuff with fiberglass aswell.

I say go for it, and try and be helpful so you can learn something yourself. Remember to shave your arms and wear some crappy clothes.
