First, I was running BT audio from my Galaxy Note 4 to my old JVC via bluetooth and the SQ for a BT connection was phenomenal. The JVC had none of the tinny harshness that seems commonplace--the BT was better sounding than my USB connected ipod! I could run the JVC at 95% full volume and there'd be little to no distortion. It was literally the best sound I've heard coming from stock speakers and just the head unit.
Anwyay, I just purchased the 80PRS and after reading the nice reviews about how amazing the SQ is and I connected my phone only to find my WAV and MP3 files sound like first generation, badly compressed MP3s. Hip hop and any type of music where there's little to no electric guitar sound okay at best, but any rock or punk, once the guitars come in, are heavily distorted even at low volume. Vocals are terrible because they sound terribly harsh.
I've tried re-pairing the phone and head unit, tried adjusting the EQs on both the phone and unit, messed with the crossover settings, tried the 'loud' on and off and nothing makes the music even sound remotely listenable. I'd rather not have to put all my music on a USB or SD card since I like to take my music with me on my phone when I leave the car, but if I can't get the BT to sound any better, I'm just going to resell the unit.
Any ideas, or am I out $250?
