Blu-ray. Discuss.

I've heard the PS3 is actually better than most other Blu-Ray players, but I haven't actually compared it to anything else. Blu-Ray on PS3 looks d*mn good, IMO.
BTW, Sony lies a lot ...
Just wondering because I had read early reviews that it was not so good. So many haters in the HT world it is hard to get a unbiased opinion... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

this is true ps3 is one of the best... and most future proof

Define future-proof.

I would have a hard time finding anything nowadays thats future-proof.

I also find it funny that Betamax seems to be the only excuse of why Blu-Ray will fail.

And all this talk about the **** industry. The reason why VHS succeeded was because it was the first player to give the **** industry main stream access into everyones living room. Now that it already has main stream access it will play a very tiny role in who wins this war.

By the way, last time I checked, Blu-Rays were outselling HD DVDs 3 to 1. Doesn't that say anything?

it is the only player that meets the new specs for bd that will be mandotory come november, and has the 1 gig of space required for those specs which no other blu ray player has....

and last time i checked sales where 1 to 1 with blu ray.... wheres your proof? kind of sad dont you think with millions of ps3s and yet blu ray cant keep a steady lead in software sales.

http://www.thedvdwars.com (site is down right now)

and the first to come out with a cheap main stream player will win. they already announced a chinease player coming out second quarter this year which will retail for $199, but whats funny is that hd-dvd players already cost that much with blu ray players besides the ps3 cost 4x as much. so their expecting the chinease player to cost $99 (hd-dvd) by the time its actually out second quarter this year.

Sony Blu-ray players>Samsung Blu-Ray players...

Well, at least at my CC. We've replaced the samsung blu-ray on our 56" Samsung 1080P dlp, no joke, twice in the last month and 3 times before that...

The Sony unit on an endcap paired with a 40" XBR2 has lasted without a hitch for several months...

Doubtful, this is Sony after all //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I don't expect Blu-Ray to succeed where Betamax, Minidisc and SACD all failed...especially if they refuse the **** industry. That'll make or break the format.
X2 especially since they won't allow one influential industry adopt it. Not that I care about **** that isn't on the net, but you can't exclude an industry that is that big.

I think it is stupid that people would jump ship on Blue-ray because they weren't supporting ****.
Anyway, I support Blue-Ray in this whole thing... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
Why? It is Sony that is causing end users to jump ship by excluding it. Maybe to you and I and I'm sure many others we could care less ,but you have to admit there are many who do care. Sony is blackballing themselves by doing this not the end users.

In summary, Sony needs to stick with just bringing the hardware to the masses affordably and stay away from developing their own formats //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

The prices will drop until they come out with some sort of new technology that you need to spend your money on... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I actually have both, a first gen hd-dvd and the ps3.

The HD-DVD has the better picture quality. Mine has only froze once and the boot up time is quite long. Otherwise its been great.

PS3 picture quality isn't as good as HD-DVD but close. Froze once also, but boot time is way faster.

Movie cost overall is similar, but seems BluRay is a little more money on average of what I've purchased so far. Sound quality seems great from both also.

Both hooked up via HDMI to my 60" Sony (60A2000). Picture from both is quite a step above sd-dvd and also better than my HR20 DTV reciever.
