Blu-ray. Discuss.

^^^ same thing i think. i had a gen one but now i have a second gen hd-dvd players its allot faster then my a1 was and doesnt skip out of nowhere.

i tend to buy more blu ray movies lately due to all the lossless audio tracks it has. hd-dvd needs to get more movies with lossless audio. but blu ray needs to get more consistent with the picture quality

you dont get the full movie experience without them. with dvd you get sound compressed up the behind and same with picture.

The advantage BluRay had over HD-DVD in terms of storage was recently lost when they started developing triple layer HD-DVD. Manufacturing costs of HD-DVD discs are still lower than BluRay and very easy to integrate into existing manufacturing plants.

Ya, I need to update my A1 so I can take advantage of the lossless audio. I think I have two movies with that.

Ill prob wait till the next gen of players to upgrade my hddvd player. Just give mine to my sister or parents I guess. lol

for the money of that player you can get 9 movies (hd-dvds) a couple of blu ray movies a ps3 and an hd-a2.

and that players is crippled doesnt decode much and doesn have hd-dvds hdi.

I know alot of ppl had some die cause they updated with a disc in the drive. (2.0 and 2.1 updated the firmware of the drive itself) I'm all HDMI to my SXRD 60"

I dunno if I will update it really. Of the 2.0 and 2.1 updates, neither make it really worth it to me yet. I'm on version 1.4 if I recall correctly.

i think 2.0 gives you truhd but dunno how much that matters to you and 2.1 gives you less skipping which my a1 had allot of....

I have zero skipping. I would do it for the truhd sound but I just dont want to kill my player for that.
