Blown Subs Question

I have two re10s running off of a jbl 1200.1

One day when I turned up my system I started to see smoke and assumed that my amp was starting to go, and then a couple of days later my system stops working.

When I took it to a shop, they told me the amp was fine, but both of my subs were blown which were only a couple of days old.

My question is, what could of caused the smoke and cause both subs to blow at the sametime?

man the same thing happened to me but i had my new system put in and the first day after a couple of hours it wouldnt play then that night they played and the next morning i went to play them ad they wouldntthen they started smokeing and maeing a loud noise but i messed up and unhooked the speakers and the wires fell and arcted the amp and fried it so i dont no the people that put it in told me that distoration blowed them

sounds like you overpowered them. I wouldnt crank the volume on brand new subs right away though...dont know if that matters much but just saying

u mean you took a sub that is rated @175rms and per 600rms to each and asking what happened, hmmm.

dont get another set or the same thing will happen. step up to ATLEAST the sr's or bette yet the se's...

thanks

\The thing is i only turned the amp up partially and I didnt wire it for 1 or 2ohms so I figured it was getting the right power.

Also Im running a shallow setup.
