Blown sub pics for fun

This is what a sub looks like when a customer blows one, knows they have blown it, and even admits it is their own fault for blowing it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The following pics are exactly how it lay when I cut it down:

The SD-1 is not a bottomless design, but it does take over 50% more than the linear x-max to bottom the coil out. With the rated 200 watts RMS it's almost impossible over 30 Hz, though. I can only imagine how terrible the smacking sounds of bottoming sounded while it was dying.

I replaced em' anyway (he blew three, this was the only one cut down so far)... since he is a good customer of a local dealer and plans to use the replacements for midbass speakers -- yes, you read that correctly.

I've never seen anything like it to be honest //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I absolutely couldn't bring myself NOT to post pictures.

Was it bass boost? Too high of gains? What?
Likely both of those and playing under tuning all at once *laughs*

He really wrecked this sub... it bottomed so hard the rest of the windings fell off in the gap! Now... I run SD-1s daily... and I've bottomed mine out before too (playing Jeezy)... but to have that happen, I can only imagine!

what an sd-1?
It's a little SQ sub that I've been selling for a while //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I am closing them out / discontinuing them now, though... but I actually quite like them and run two of them in my daily driving car.

If you go to my web-site they are on there. Old school looking subs made for 200 RMS. They are built @ the same place that used to make Kicker and JL back in the day... they made Lanzar when they were good too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Nice subs, but too "small" for most people these days.
