you can tell if a sub is blown if it doesnt play like it should. some signs might be that it doesnt hit hard or at all, or you may see cracks along the face of it.
A damaged sub will distort/crackle at higher volumes than it should or at certain frequencies. When a sub is completely blown it will either stop working all together or it will sound like crap all the time.
