Blown s12L7...

i got a blown s12L7, does anyone know if its possible to get repaired???.....kicker offers a trade in of like 20 bucks, and warranty was for only 30 days, only used the **** thing for like 2 months, pushed it with a kx600.1, please help...

i'm curious to know.....how is it blown.......is the coil fried or the supporter under the cone seperated

im not 100% sure, but i cant see any damage, so i assume the coil is fried.....

my atlas kicked out on me how can I tell if the coil is fried or if it is just seperated? ascendants warranty doesnt cover burnt coils but if it's just seperated they might cover that.

but it did smell funny but not horrible . . .and when I push on the cone it makes weird noises.

u can tell a coil is fried when u smell the pole vent and it smelld like a peanut factory

...as far as the seperation..sometimes depending on how the sub was played......the cone would seperate from the surround......i've done that atleast 4times and in a situation like that.....i believe they would replace it...burned coils i'm not sure of....i know 4 myself...if i have a fried coil i buy a new sub......but i have a sub now and my tinsel leads broke off from the terminal so i need 2 find out how i can fix that.....

Whenever i fried my voice coil on a few different subs they all made like a crushing noise when i pushed on the cone.

how was your gain, and bass boost settings on the 600.1? enclosure??

bass boost on amp was half way and a 1/4 way on the remote, gain i think was about half way, the sub was in a ported box designed for the sqaures....the box cost me over 100 bucks alone..

I belive your amp settings blew the sub. Normally L5's and L7's can take some user abuse...

if it is a blown VC im sure you clipped it.. do you know your preout voltage? if theyre high voltage then even a quarter gain will blow subs depending on the amp...

buy a new one and set the gain with a DMM.. 1/2 is probably too much

Normally L5's and L7's can take some user abuse...
