ok. so i have a sony xplod 1000 watt amp annnd i was new to this whole woofer boom boom stuff. and i bought this amp from a guy i know and he told me i could hook the ground wire just to the negative side on the battery. yeah it messed the amp up.

i took it apart just to do it and they have these black little microchip things on the side and about 3 are black and cracked. (fried) but everthing else looks good. and the power light on the amp still comes on when i hook it up to the car battery just no sound comes out.

heres a video of a guy that has the same problem as me.

yeah, sooo can anyone help. what do i need to do to fix this.

you have to unsolder the fets and purchase new ones. MAKE SURE THEY ARE THE SAME NUMBER. If its only three it would cost like $20 or so to fix it your self. Also when you put the fet clamps back on, make sure they are secure as this helps the grounding of the amp ( at least thats what I was told, I thought there were for cooling, can anyone confirm this?)

IMHO buy a different amp. Sony explode is hardly worth the trouble of fixing it. Sorry.

buutt you see, i cant just "throw it away, and get a better one" because duh, that was my first thought and my money tree i had growing died so im short on cash..

i need to fix this one. where can i buy new ones at? and i cant really read the numbers on the fets.. and there different on each one so how do i know the numbers for the fried ones....

IRFZ44's. They have a new model # now. Again the amp might be worth $100 in working condition. By the time you find the parts and replace them if it is just them. This is still not a guaranteed fix. Scrap it. Check the classifieds.
