Blown L7?

ok i have a quick question to throw out there. what does a blown sub sound or look like because i have no idea what is wrong with 1 of my S10L7's. it plays fine at medium bass, but when i get to 3/4 or near full it makes a funny sound. could this just me a vibration with some of the plastic molding in my truck or is it blown/damaged? its kind of a clicking sound but reallllly contant becuase its moving so fast. any guesses?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

well press in on the cone a lil bit. if you hear a scratchy noise, more than likely its blown

Could be the amp not putting enough power and clipping, be careful the woofer may be fine, do what ploppy said, see if the coil is freee.

how hard are we talkin here?could something just be pinched? push the cone from the outside down or from the inside out cuase i dont feel like unscrewin it tonite.

Just give it a push in the center, if it scratches it is blown.

pushed multiple times. NO SCRATCHING! what the hell else could cause this obnoxious noise? im thinkin about just disconnecting the sub and running the other one to see if thats the problem. any other ideas>?

I doubt it would play if it was blown.

yea the other one alone is just fine. hooked em both back up and it did it again.im pretty sure its coming from the sub itself, but it could just be a rattle from the box maybe, or metal on the amp vibrating? should i try putting the bigger speaker wire that i got today (12 ga) to replace the 16 or 18 thats in it presently? or should i run the bad sub by itself and see what happens?

push down lightly in the center, not off axis to put excess stress to one side...

unplug it and see what happens, could be interior vibrasions you hear...

amp is the kicker kx 1200x1. what is the deal with this? has anyone ever had a distorted/rattling sound from a L7 without it being blown/damaged. does anyone know how much it would cost if i sent it into kicker?

Who set it up for you? Who set the gains on your amp? Back then when I use to have one of my L7s running off an Audiobahn a1300hct the little volt meter would constantly be clicking because I hadn't set my gains correctly. After I set them the click stopped so maybe its your gains.

my gains are set about a quarter turn. not really sure what to do.
