Blown L7=me Pissed

ok..so last night i was driving along and one of my subs cutout cuz i could feel less bass...and i did some wiring and i MAY,i dont know,i MAY have crossed some of the wires ont he sub because its DVC so On the sub itself,i MAY have crossed the wrong red to black.anyway, when i push on my cone it makes a wierd metal-ly sound.like a thin piece of metal being waved in the air.oh and last night after i did the wiring the subs were firing the opposite way,it was only like that for a few minutes and then the subs shut off.the amp power light went from green to red.and then i would hear the metal-ly noise from the sub when it fired.wtf did i do?is it blown?its a 12" l7 and i only ran 500w to it.im pretty sure i didnt wire the subs to .5ohm.cuz after a little wire re-connections the amp went back to green and it seemed the subs were fine except they fired opposite each other, one went up and one went down.tell me what i did wrong.and i dont wanna build a new box cuz it would be a waste,so can i just screw down a piece of wood over the old sub covering?
