Blocked CD aperture

Hi folks,

I have inherited an AIWA CDC-407 player in a used car. It used to play CDs OK but now will not accept a CD. I thought it had a CD stuck inside, but the blockage appears to be caused by two metal bars just inside the entry slot. In other words, I can insert a plastic card because it it fits between the bars, but a CD will not go in.

Does this unit have some kind of lockout mechanism? Is there a fix? Thanks. Will

I am not trying to be sarcastic in saying this but, have you checked your manual and called AIWA about this? Do the bars move when you power the deck on/off. See if your local dealer or where you got it can help you out. Sorry I didn't have a quick fix, but I am not too familiar with those decks. Hope I helped somewhat.

You can look for a reset button. If there is one, it's probably a recessed button visible on the front of the unit after the face has been removed. It might or might not fix the problem, but it's worth a try.
