Something went wrong with the last amp I had for my subs, and it started blowing fuses on my ground distribution block. (Yes, my ground distro block is fused, but it's temporary. I needed a distribution block and the only thing I could find in town that wasn't way too expensive.) Anyway, I figured that it just happened to be drawing more than 30A, which didn't seem unreasonable to me. The power was still fused, and the amp had fuses on it, so I just hooked the amp straight to the ground. It turned on fine and seemed to be running normal for about 15 seconds, then it put on a fireworks display in my trunk - and filled the car with smoke.
Needless to say, I'm looking for a new amp. My choices are the following:
HiFonics Brutus Series BXi 1606D:

and
Power Acoustik OV1-4000D:

They're both the same price, so it really comes down to which would be a better value. On paper, the specs on the PA look more pleasing to me (I don't need a low pass of less than 50Hz, so no big deal there). However, it's come to my attention that specs on paper don't always match up in practice. Anyone have any personal experience with this particular PA Amp, or any recommendations in general?
Thanks in advance!
