I think i may have just blown my M1000 i just got which is only a few months old, but im not sure, heres what i figured out.
Was driving not too long ago bumping at decent volume, voltage was good, no lower than 13v, all of a sudden i hear a thud, my lights dim terribly to the point of almost shutting off, then thats it, no more sub. I figure hey, the shitty audiobahn i was running just blew. (audiobahn immortal 12" i was using temp) and ill throw another sub in when i get home.
So i get home and pull out the trusty dewalt and remove the audiobahn, it has a bit of coil smoke smell to it, was kinda hot, not too hot though. Wired together all the coils read 1.7 which was about normal i guess. Anyway i threw that out and put in a single voice coil 4 ohm 15" i had laying around, which i know is good, and i get nothing out of the sub still. So i turn everything off, and pull the fuse from the fuse holder under the hood (trying to "reset" the amp?) lol. I turn the HU on again and nothing, fuses in amp appear to be good, RCAs are in, just no output. The alpine doesnt have a protect indicator or anything. The fuses on the amp appear to be in good shape, although i havent completely removed them and tested them.
Did some random testing with the multimeter, not that i know what im doing but i figured these 2 readings out.
With the amp on and playing, i get a ac voltage reading of .0015 with the meter set to 200v ac
With the amp off i get a 553 continuity reading at the terminals.
Does any of this info tell anyone anything? I had just left a friends house when all of this happened. I had only been playing it for about 2 minutes, after it happened i turned everything completely off, the amp wasnt even hot and didnt smell weird or anything.
