Blew my back out...

Welcome to the club! Hopefully you didn't hurt it as bad as I did years ago. I herniated a disc unloading 24 packs of pop. Lifted the right way with my legs and everything, but just one of those rare instances I suppose. Ended up getting demoted from my job over it, took them to court and ended up just giving it up being I felt like I was done wrong, not to mention the drastic pay-cut and loss of benefits and oh yeah, my car getting stolen on their property was the last draw for me. So quit, gave up on case and was out of work for 3 months till I found a decent job to where I could sit down a lot, which probably is worst for me, but I was in constant pain for a while. Also tried the chriopractor that seem to just make it worse! I have had 2 doc's say I will more than likely need surgery on it, that is how bad it is. I feel better now and been itching to get a more active job, but I just got an HR job for good amount of dollars for K-Mart Distrubution Center. Still, I do a lot of sitting!
preachin to the choir brother....already had surgery 4 years ago. Kinda hard to see but i can't really get a good pic but thats the scar on the left side of the photo

did surgery help? been thinking of talking to my doctor about doing something for my sciatica as the stretching all the **** doctors recommended didn't help worth a shit. they kept telling me just stretch and itll go away...ok well its been 2+ years...when do i get to see the benefits?

Dammmmit... this weekend i was helping someone out with their install...WhiteIce, member here.... All we did was run wires for his amp ,Memphis 4kW, i built him a nice box for his Kinetik 2400 with amp mounted to it, and did 2 of the big three due to time restrictions, also wired up his Stage 2 DMX 15. One of the worst installs i ever did as far as his S10 blazer fighting us on every part of the install. Anyways, yesterday i told him my back was sore, then i woke up this morning to a rabid assss pain in my lower back and could hardly move. So i skipped work and went to the chiropractor and now i'm sitting here in great pain but hurts more if i stand up or lay down.
And then a car exploded and there was a gang fight at a the nudie bar and one of the bangers stabbed a stripper in the left tittie and all the saline ran out.

(last part added for added dramatic effects)
I blew mine out Friday taking a T-case out of a Yukon. A loud pop then my legs went numb and I got dizzy.

Now today (monday) I am up and moving fine. I had the same problem though with the back siezing up.

I couldn't stand for shit Fri night, sat, and sunday. The best thing I can tell you is to take asprin and keep moving, thats what helped me the most and I was bed ridden for 2 days.

Last time I blew my back out it was 2 weeks.

honestly....so far its been one of the best moves i've made. i basically had the same thing as you, sciatic nerve being pinched between L4-L5. I lost feeling in my left leg and was told that if i didn't do something to correct it that it would lead to permanent nerve damage.

****. luckily i still have feeling in my leg so im hoping i dont have any nerve damage. ive been reading about the surgery for a while but im a *****, and ive read about cases of people gaining consciousness during surgery but they are paralyzed from the drugs and the feel the entire surgery. kinda scared to ask, and if they say its a good idea, go through with it.

the pains been on and off for a couple years. most recently when i moved to my new apartment and had to carry boxes by myself. it flared up so bad and caused so much pain i wish someone would of just shot me in the head. couldn't move, sleep, anything. luckily its very mild right now but its ever present.

i was prescribed Flexiril but i guess i was immune to it or some shit. doctor said be careful with it and that 1 pill should suffice.

1 pill - nothing

2 pills - nothing

3 pills - nothing

bottle is currently sitting in the kitchen.

i had Vicotin after the surgery and 1 pill=nothing it took 2.5 pills to take the pain away. Kinda got addicted to those until my scripts ran out a month before they were supposed to. I guess i ate them too much.

did i mention vicodin makes me SO nauseous that i simply wont take it?

people have told me to take perceset (sp?) but i haven't asked for it, and dont have a need for it since im used to the pain i have right now, now if it flares up i will.

this might sound like an excuse to people that don't know (haven't experienced) the benefits of medical mj, but it works wonders for me. problem is, i dont wanna be ****ing high all **** day, as weird as that may sound to the stoners on ca.com

i'd never get anything done...between the giggling and eating...on top of that i'd weigh 400 pounds from eating all the leftover meatloaf and dorito's

i want to get surgery but like i said in the earlier post im nervous about those horror stories ive read. medical mj helps but id much rather see it as a fun thing to do than a necessity to alleviate pain.

i was reading about something called a BIS monitor. but im not sure if hospitals actually use this on a patients request.

"Clinical studies of the BIS monitor have shown that customizing anesthesia levels to patients’ needs can help them wake up faster and feel alert sooner, as well as experience fewer side effects such as muscle aches, nausea and vomiting. At the same time, the device also lowers the risk of “intraoperative awareness,” a rare phenomenon in which the patient unintentionally regains consciousness during surgery. Fine-tuning the amount of anesthetic assures that the patient remains in a deep hypnotic state during an operation."

thats what scares the shit outta me though

I took Vicodin for nearly 3 years after an auto accident in 1998 (left me disabled), and I hated that stuff.

Not only was it next to worthless in dealing with serious pain it left me in a constant bad mood.

Oxycontin (Percocet, Percodan) is the best pain med available, sure makes you feel good:naughty: but the doctors are so scared that they will get in trouble for prescribing it too often they would rather leave their patients in pain and give prescriptions out for Vicodin.
