Blazer, Explorer, or Grand Cherokee?

They are an option too, but behind these three. Availability is one of the reasons.
Yea, I was actually looking for one of those three before I came across my 4Runner, each one seems to have it's own problems though, The Blazer's suspension components are pretty iffy, but the 4.3 V6 seems to last above 230K pretty often. The Explorers I found seemed to fail around 195K-210K, except the 5.0's, the common problem was cracked heads. I was pretty much set on a Jeep with the 4.0, but the gas mileage and common electrical problems scared me away.

I was going to go with a 4.3 Blazer in the end.

I'll take suspension issues over engine issues any day.

All 2nd gen blazer came equipped with the 4.3, which is a stout little torquey motor that runs great and are cheap to work on. The suspension on them is fine as long as general maintenance is kept up. They are also not too hard to get loud with, as long as you have some knowledge that is, was doing 150s in the kick on music with a single built up btl 18 and an ia 20.1 at .5ohms.

2nd Gen are '95 to '05? I'm looking for between '98 and '02 more than likely. I don't have hardly any knowledge on getting loud with SUV's, besides sub up port back. Lol, I have some studying to do. I'm not trying to compete though, so it's not super important to me.

Blazer my grandfather has 3 well 2 are s10's all with the 4.3 v6 and he bough them back in the 90's for his business and used them as work trucks and still uses them daily from the 90's. The blazer has 366k he had no problems with then the work horse s10 has 467k only thing he has recently done was new rear springs ballpoints and bearings and at 350k he had to put a new head on it and gaskets then the 3rd one the newest one daily driver s10 (03) I belive has 124k and has never had a problem.......now I'm a die hard Chevy fan I own a Tahoe myself but many of my friends have owned jeeps and explorers. The jeeps 4.0 engine is probley just as reliable as the blazer engine besides they **** on gas 9mpg as to where the blazer would be getting 15-17mpg other the engine they always have problems with elerical such as thermostats the windows and stuff like that. Now the ford is also not a bad choice but if your planing on getting an 02 with the v6 they are horriable engine and my friends blew at 180k the only explorer I would even consider is a 5.0 very reliable my friends has 240k no problems just did ****** and bail joints but then again also gets 9mpg

Yes, though they switched front ends in '98. I didn't compete either, just liked having a nice ground pounder.

I had a 4 door, and liked being able to keep my seats with a box that was nearly 7 cubes. A buddy of mine has a 2 door and is using my old box right now and he has almost no room in the back and had to fold the seats down, though there are ways to build a box around that big with keeping the backseats.
