Blankets anyone?

Anyone ever put anything of the sort over their sub? To make a longer story short, I ended up putting a light blanket over my sub (directly on it, not on a grill or anything) in a random situation so that no one would see and jack it. I didn't think about it and left it there and on my drive home noticed that at higher volumes it sounded cleaner than before. Not a ton, but a little. I figured the blanket was keeping it from slopping around as much. Will it hurt anything if I leave it? Also, is polyfill the same stuff that's in cheap pillows or is it a different kind? Recently I bought an "SPL blanket" off ebay for my Mag and MAN what a difference. It seems to be a high thread count cotton with a 1" linen edge border surrounding the sheet. Nothing but crisp sound and deeper notes. Of course I am an audiophile so this is important to me.

So does anyone know if it will hurt anything to leave the blanket or if cheap pillow polyfill is all good to put in my sub? ...God this sounds ridiculous....

Seems like you dampen the sound just a tad, thus giving you a cleaner sound. Id say its worth it in my book.

I say if you like it then you should leave it. I don't see how it could hurt anything unless it's a heavy blanket and is really weighing the cone down.

Only thing I would worry about is cooling if it is dampening cone movement, and you are giving the sub full power.
