bitrate??

and TeenWolf, i have Nero too. can i use Nero to take store bought cd's , put them in my computer, and compress them down to 192 then drag and drop to an mp3 player??
Yes, you can use Nero to rip and burn, but I only use it to burn. I use Windows Media Player to rip. Use your mp3 player software to "drag and drop" to the mp3 player.

There can also be a difference in audible sound quality, depending on the encoder.

For example, with the right settings using EAC and L.A.M.E together, I can usually make a 128kbps track sound better than my buddy's 192kbps and some 256kbps track of the same CD-ripped song, when he's using "other" common encoders... especially if the other encoders can't make sense of errors on an old/damaged CD, and just encode them the way they see them.

But, even with EAC/LAME, I still prefer higher than 192, even if it's variable bit rate (VBR) to save space.

vinyl>all
I keep an old Harmon Kardon rack system in my workshop 'cause it has a really good turntable and I have several hundred albums that I still listen to when I'm working on cars/audio/whatever project I might be tinkering with.

There's a presence in my old Jefferson Airplane, Jethro Tull, Beatles (one on the original Apple label, recorded in mono, pressed on green vinyl!), etc albums that CDs will never reproduce.

i noticed some songs on my player were VBR . why doesnt it list the "kbps" on the track? all it says is kbps. how do i know how large a file it is?

but i seen on the ripping programns that you can "select VBR" what does VBR stand for and what are the advantages/disadvantages of ripping that way?? i would have to change the settings from the settings ALREADY pre -programmed by the program, so im scared if i should leave EVERYTHING as it is the way the downloaded program cam up, OR change some settings?? right now the only thing i changed is the bitrate to 192. with VBR give me any better sound quality than 192 or any other differences i would notice??

sory bout all the questions. thx
