Birthday gift for my best friend who is turning 30

So this guy has been a friend of mine for probably 8 years. Best friends for the past 6 years. He had a major mid life crisis at the age of 25, which is the age of me now. So he always said that by the time he hits 30, if he is not making $100k a year, he would off himself. We obviously know he is joking as he laughs about it. I have ran into some financial troubled issues so I am out of doing what our plan was.

You dont have to read this part if you wont want, but its a great idea incase you want to do it, but his gf came to me and my best friends brother about going to Vegas for Brian's 30th. We were all on board for it. Aaron, Brian's brother, was onboard, then his financial aid fell through and now he is in alot of student loan help. So he is out. My lifelong childhood best friend was going too, who my friend Brian thinks is the coolest guys around.... As for me, I just left my job, moving out of my two story 3 bedroom house with a media room in Irving and moving into a decently nice 1 bedroom apartment so I can go back to school so I am out of money. His GF already bought the tickets and booked the trip. We were going to keep it quiet. We get there an hour early, be hanging out in his room, they land, they walk into their room and bam, there we are! It was going to be great. Such a bummer.

So now it looks like its going to be just him and his gf. We all know know Brian would want ALL of us there, but times are tough.

So I am looking at getting something for him for hitting his big 3-0. He has came so far in his career, making alot of money, promotion after promotion as his last promotion is Director of Network Operations. He run the entire office now, so he is close to his $100k year mark, so no offing himself. lol

I want to get something for him. He always talks about going to Cancun, which is happening for him, but since I am strapped for money with schooling and what not, I was thinking of getting him something in the $100-150 range. We never buy each other things for birthdays, just take each other out to the bar or do something; just not gifts. But this occasion deserves something. I was thinking about a bottle of Dom Perignon since he has always wanted to try it again, which has been years.

I know you don't know much about him, but if I could spend that kind of money for a fishing trip with a cabin weekend get-a-way, that would be awesome. He likes to drink, fish, vacations, the lake, weekend Get-A-ways, etc....

Sorry for the long post. I just love this bro. He has been great to me, we have been through alot of great times, and I want to do something for him, even though I can't afford it. Whatcha all think? Your help is much appreciated.

I may not have put in too much about what he is into. He likes the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Stars (We personally know Steve Ott so he already has one of Steve's Jersey's signed and one of his hockey sticks he used in the Anaheim game signed) and likes the Texas Rangers a little bit. Likes the lake, likes to drink with my friends and I. He just bought a 2012 Lexus IS250 Sport, so I was thinking of getting him a Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty.1 DSP so he can keep his factory head unit and run like one 10 or one 12" in his truck. I can build him a box. Put in an RE SE 10 or 12 for some extra bump. He isnt crazy into car audio or anything. He doenst know anything about it, but would like to add some extra bump in his truck. He doesnt want to rattle his car, he just wants some extra bottom end. So that might be a work in progress since I may not be able to buy his DSP, amp wiring kit, and sub. I could only do the 3Sixty and build the box. The Wiring kit and sub will have to come later. Plus the fact that it would be free that I would install it. He is the kind of person that would take his vehicle somewhere to get it worked on. Its a nice freakin car so I can see why. Plus he donest know what he is doing.

Maybe when Steve Ott comes back from his Canada lake house, I can ask him or his girlfriend if he knows any of the Dallas cowboys and see if I can get him a signed jersey. He also already has one of Steve's hockey pucks he made a shot on. So I think he has everything from Steve, whom was our favorite player before our friend started dating him. Pretty cool that your favorite hockey player for the past 5 years, ends up dating one of your friends a couple years ago. He's a pretty cool guy man. Really really cool. Bought us over $100 in beers at the Kenny Chesney and Zac Brown Band Concert. Those beers were expensive. He apologized he couldnt hang out with us much longer as he had to go meet up with his fellow hockey teammates and go sit up in a suite box with the coach. Really cool down to earth guy

The signed jersey will have to wait, as Steve won't be back from Canada for a few months so would be hard to get that. His birthday is in a week. :/
