Bioshock - new PC game

pretty pricey... (atleast for me to use on something for computer nerd'ing)
that will be everything i need? no need to buy out a new video card? i would be able to play battlefield2 full graphics and bioshock? dx10?
Ya it has everything except the OS, just get an OEM copy from Newegg, Home Premium for like $120. I don't know about FULL graphics, depends on your monitor, but you should be able to run like 1600x1080. If you don't run Vista, then you can still play Bioshock with DX9.

i can already play battlefield2 and i only have 1.8 ghz, 512 ram, and a ati9600
What is your budget? I can find you some prices on newegg and pricewatch. Watch the procs though, what they were saying about 3 ghz not being 3 ghz is VERY true.

I'm running a dual core at 2.4 and can walk all over that 3 ghz chip. Now I have on-chip memory controller, 1 mb cache per chip and a faster FSB. Also, celerons don't overclock for crap. You may want a little extra out of your computer down the road...a better proc offers that.

**EDIT** It must take a LOOONG time to load bf2, unless you have everything turned way down.

well i only wanted to spend around 400-500 at the most... because i already have a moniter and like 3-4 legit versions of windowsxp professional and home (my dad gets a bunch from his company //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif )

Just playing games? Any other uses?

just to play games, but if ur computer is set up to play games, then you can basically do anything else too, considering the high requirements of todays video games
Aye, good point. I did actually play the bioshock demo today. I really like it! Graphics are great. I wish the battlefield franchise would get to this level. I'll go search right now.

Besides monitor and OS, do you have any other components?

big 3+ghz is 3ghz though, its not like one's 3ghz is better than another one? or is the amplifier way of thinking incorrect, that a sundown's 1000+rms is no different than a usamps 1000+rms , a watt is a watt
Think of a processor kind of like a conveyor belt. Say you have 2 conveyor belts, one twice as long as the other, both moving at "3 ghz" for sake of the argument. Both conveyor belts are moving at the same speed, but one completes its full rotation in half the time.

This is kind of like the argument of Processor "A" vs. Processor "B". They can be the same speed, but some, like the Celeron, will still be slower and some, like a core 2 duo or pentium m or... etc, will be faster. All processors are different.

The celeron would obviously be the longer conveyor belt.

BioShock Installs a RootkitPosted by kdawson on Friday August 24, @08:36PM

Security PC Games (Games)

An anonymous reader writes "Sony (the owner of SecureROM copy protection) is still up to its old tricks. One would think that they would have learned their lesson after the music CD DRM fiasco, which cost them millions. However, they have now started infesting PC gaming with their invasive DRM. Facts have surfaced that show that the recently released PC game BioShock installs a rootkit, which embeds itself into Explorer, as part of its SecureROM copy-protection scheme. Not only that, but just installing the demo infects your system with the rootkit. This begs the question: Since when did demos need copy protection?"
