no gas on sunday = more gas on monday //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

I hate Bill OReilly, I'm sure he wouldn't like to discus his earnings last year on the program and his $10 million from book sales. The top guy from those Companies made less

I am actually really happy that oil has reached high prices and hope that it goes through the roof. In economics there is a term known as price elasticity, which is the downward movement in demand when prices increase causing the demand curve to be downward sloped. Until this point in time the oil product has been price in elastic whereas the demand for oil hasn't reduced as prices increased but the demand has actually increased. What happens at the point of inflection where demand starts to fall the use all substitution or alternative fuel sources will begin. Until we hit that point where people choose to give up their lifestyles because fuel is too much we will not put pressure on the American government and the private sector to come up with realistic alternatives to petrol. I understand change is uncomfortable but with a fixed supply of resources it is inevitable so American will have to get the pacifier out of their mouth and begin this process.

Here's the problem: global demand is still increasing primarily because of the growing markets in India and China ...

True, but it is still not the reason

The real problem is China needs new technology, they have enough of their own oil, they just can't get to it with their current equiptment.

Soon as we help them with refineries and drilling equiptment the sooner we can get this monkey off our back..

I've hated O'Reilly ever since his argument with John McCain on whether torture was an effective tool. The guy made himself look like a jackass saying McCain (of whom's experience we all know) was wrong in saying torture was ineffective and dispicable.

His point this time was very good, though...although this should have been a known fact already. He did nice work, however.

Buy a hybrid if:
You wish to reduce global oil consumption

You want a vehicle that's more environmentally friendly

Don't buy a hybrid if:

You think it will save you money, because it won't

You want performance
I thought you did this calculation that showed buying a hybrid wouldnt save you money unless it was over a 20 year span or somehting?

my perspective of Bill has comepletely changed. I though he was a total dick but now that he's given us the real perspective of gas and actually showing this profit margining for the gas company, he's the man now dog //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

but thats comparing a 13K car to a 19K car, if you were already in the market for a 19K car youd be saving more by buying the hybrid, that entire calculation is pointless.

The number one reason why people buy Hybrids is because they think they'll save money ...
But, as I've shown, you don't save money buying a hybrid ...

No, youve shown that you dont save money if you spring for a car that is 6,000 more than another. If you were already in the market for a $19,000 buying a hyrbid WOULD save you money.
