Bigrick31's Sick New Project

ok new update today. i havnt worked on the truck for about 3 weeks now had things to do last 3 weekends so today i got a little work done on the truck.

Bedbraces.jpg

so first we finished welding the bottom of the bed braces and also welded bolts into the braces so we can attach the braces to the frame and just unbolt the braces from underneath the frame.

we also welded in a metal plate to shave my gas door. now i just need to sand it down and prep it for body work

also cut the hole in the hood so that my air filter will stick through the hood. i know its not the prettiest thing ever but it will do for now until i either do an engine swap to an EFI motor or get a side draft carb.

oh and for a sneak peak at the beginings of my system.

hmmmmm........ whats this you ask?

well if you guessed a peice of 5/16" kevlar stong enough to stop a .44 cal hand gun then you would be correct! i got this froma job i did. we were building an australian consolate in san francisco all the walls had to have kevlar and steel cage inbetween the sheetrock and whatever was left over the sheet rockers let the foreman and myself take home. i got the equivilent of a 8' x 4' sheet in 3 peices. stuff is awesome and expensive we took the phone number off of one of the sheets and called it to get a price its about $13 a sq ft. this is what im going to build my speaker box out of.

Make a cowl hood for it.Cheaper and eaiser than getting some side draft carbs.

How dense is that kevlar stuff ?

Seems like it would be tricky to manually fasten it
nah i dont like cowl hoods on this truck. working with the kevlar wont be to hard ill either get fiberglass to mold it together or kevlar matt and resin. the stuff seems like fiberglass the sheets are made with kevlar matt and resing untill it gets to the desired thickness. so think of it as a 5/16" sheet of fibersglass but this stuff is a lot stronger. i tried jumpind on a peice to break it and it took a while it just bent ant eventually started to break apart i was impressed.

Ram air ?

my buddy seth the one who runs twisted minis is gunna make me a set of tube controll arms so that i cna get a little more lift from teh front of the truck. as it is right now the controll arm hits the bag mount when the truck raises up with the tube arms they will be more open in the center allowing the truck to raise up higher and clear the bag mounts
