Big Three Supplies

I'm going to be doing the Big Three sometime in the near future and I was hoping someone could check over what I plan on ordering so I don't miss anything.

I got about 4' of blue 1/0 wire at Circuit City for $8, but it might not be enough.

How do those battery terminals look? I like that they have set screws for 1/0AWG, 4AWG, and (2) 8AWG, and they use a nut and bolt to clamp onto the battery post, so I can easily keep my stock wiring.

Any tips on crimping those ring connectors onto 1/0 wire? hammer? vice? Should I just solder them on? What works best?

Also, do I NEED a fuse between alternator and battery? My stock wiring runs through the fuse box, so does this mean I HAVE to put in a fuse? I really don't want to spend $30 on a fuse holder if I don't need to.

I'm going to be ordering all of this stuff along with four of these:

and doing an SPL box and big three at the same time //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

looks like youre pretty much set. the battery terminals look awesome and should do the job just fine. the alternator to battery + in my opinion should be fused for safety, but its not necessary. for crimping, i like to use a table vise. crimp one side, overlap the other, then crimp it whole. and after that, i solder it.

yeah, i've been holding off on doing the big three because all the nice battery terminals i've seen are $30+ each! all the cheaper ones usually only do (1) 4AWG and (1) 8AWG. i was realy happy to find these, they seem perfect for what i need.

i just realized i don't actually have a vice at my apartment, but i'm sure i could find one to use.

get cheaper and probly better 1/0 through knukonceptz.com
yeah, but i'll probably only need a foot or so (if any). knukonceptz charges $3/foot for their wire and $5 base for shipping. i'll probably just try and get by with the length i have now, and if it's not enough i'll just head back to circuit city and see if they have any more laying around from old installs (that's how i got what i have now, they usually charge around $6/foot!).

anyone know where the grounding strap is on a 99 honda accord (2.3L I4 manual)?

i think i might have found it on the right side, near the alternator, but i can't be sure.

KnuKoncepts' battery terminals have 1 4ga input and one 1/0 input. They also have a bolt on top. Very solid, I now have 2 on my jeep.

I don't see why the alternator to battery should be fused if you are putting much bigger wire where the stock one was. Not to mention stock isn't fused?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

well, my alternator to battery wire is fused, but i think i'm just going to do a run of 1/0 straight there.

should i leave all of my stock wiring intact? (and just run my 1/0 in addition).
