Asphalt vs. Rubber?

So i've tried searching about this, and only found one thread about it, open ended at that.

I understand there's a risk asphalt may begin to stink again throughout it's life if the weather is really hot (and asphalt is the last thing you want to smell when it's 800 degrees in your car, i would imagine) and also runs a risk of running when it's hot, as well.

But does rubber deadener work as well as the asphalt? The asphalt seems a lot thicker per $$$, but the rubber doesn't smell......

So all things considered, which is the better deadener?

Cool.

Just wanted to make sure it's worth the extra loot.

As soon as i caught a whiff of the asphalt, i was hoping i wouldn't lose much performance switching to a butyl-based product.

The aphalt is RAUNCHY
