finished running the wires. took f'ing forever and my back is killing me.

all that's new in these pics is the run back to the amps. started a new thread cause that one was f'ed.

as you can see, my idea to get another run on 1/0 on the battery terminal was to remove the set screw for the 1/0 input and use a nut bolt along with a ring terminal. seems to have worked out well.

getting the big wire through my small hole in the firewall wasn't nearly as hard as i thought. i just had to push //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i tried hooking my soundstream amp back up and realized the power/ground terminals are no where near big enough for 1/0!!!!!

but it's totally messed up anyways, there must be some sort of bad short internally, i couldn't even get the wires in without sparks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

i have some of these on the way:

and i'm waiting for an RMA number on my amp. in the meantime i think i'm gonna get a few items from Fi //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

where did u get those ring terminals for ur wire?
home depot.

i just got 10 of the crimp style ones in the mail today, but i have no way of crimping them!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

This is ghey.

maybe one day i will get 200ft of hyperflex like you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i actually went into my local CC and asked the manager about becoming an installer as a weekend job (as if i'm not busy enough already). my internship only lets me get 12hr/wk and i want more money!

any opinions if this would be fun/good place to work? i think i might learn something along the way, do stuff that somewhat interests me, and maybe get some cheap kicker stuff //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

so, do u really need a fuse from the alt to the battery? i dont see the point of that
short answer no, long answer yes.

...Then you do not know the purpose of a fuse.

It is in case the wire touches something hot, or a moving part, or for whatever reason grounds out. In that case, a fire would be caused indeffinitly. With a fuse in place, the fuse blows before the fire starts.

See the purpose now, smart guy?

ACCORD!!!I like it...

where u get those terminals... and the other thing at the end of the plus post where its going off to feed the amp. Thats sweet
home depot for the terminals.

i also like my idea for the bolt out the side of the battery terminal //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

don't you want the fuse as close to the battery as possible?
my understanding is you want the fuse close to whatever is supplying the current. in the case of the big three that's the alternator. in the case of the run to the amps that's the battery (from the alternator). i just put the fuses a convenient length away for easy mounting.

yep, that's the theory.

wasnt really trying to be a smart guy, just asking if it was needed. Because I thought there wouldnt be a problem in putting too much amp's into the battery since its just charging it anyways. IE fuse incase of an amp suddently draws too much power.

fuse would be in case there is some kind of short that would allow for continuous current flow to ground.

this would build up tons of heat very fast and probably melt the wire within a few seconds and possibly start an electrical fire in a minute or two.

if there is too much current through the fuse, it will blow and stop all current flow.

Fuses are not in case something draws too much current... They are there in case of a short.

And the way you said ''I don't see a point'' tells me that you were trying to be a smarty pants //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

loom is your friend.
i feel bad covering pretty wire with crappy loom //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

i tried to keep it away from heat, but i may end up looming it eventually.
