Big problem

I have a 2000 watt legacy amp and 2 12 kickers...

when i turn the cd player on the bass is kicking hard then after a while the bass turns it self down like way down... then if i turn the cd player off and on again it comes back up and a few mins later its going down again...? would anyone know the problem or be able to help me troublshoot

Sounds like the amp is overheating and automatically turning down the gain to lighten the load until it cools off.
