It's a legit gold record from the RIAA. You can't see it because of the glare from the flash, but the RIAA hologram is to the right of the inscription.

Most of the kids on rap forums don't have that kind of money to spend. Gold records usually go for $200-1000 or so unless it's someone like The Beatles.

Oh yeah, and the last one of these on ebay went for $660.

It's a gold record given to artists, people at the label, and close friends to commemorate sales of 500,000 copies of an album. Some people end up having them stolen or pawning them off for money. The serial number on the plaque is 1131703 for the non-believers.

Lol... any clue how many they give out? I find it hard to believe most people would sell it off, unless they were just working for the artists, but hated them or something. And who is this guy? I see metallica, the beatles, and many more going for $200-400.

I really have no idea how many they give out. I've seen 2 other ones of these, and you'd be surprised how many there are out there. Just search ebay for "RIAA gold" or "RIAA platinum".

Big L is one of the best and relatively unknown rappers of all time. He was on his way to the top when he was gunned down for no apparent reason (murder never solved). If you're into rap/hip-hop, check out the album "The Big Picture"

If you like anything like Gangstarr, KRS-one, etc., you'd probably love Big L. Even if you don't buy the CDs, at least download one if that's your kind of music.
