any one know if cutting holes in rear seats and mounting subs to baffle attached to rear of rear seats,fireing output straight into car cabin (instead of a box in the trunk) works? older car so cutting holes is not an issue. should sub be in a box or I.B. for best sq......

would be better to take out the seat, and build up a baffle to compleatly seal off the front from the trunk, with your subs mounted shooting in to the cab. no need to cut holes in the seat.

ok,but in my experience all subs sound better faceing the rear of the vehicle,so haveing the sub face forward in a situation like this would yeild what kinda results?-better or worse than a box in the trunk?

It is not that firing backwards yields best results, that is just how it is in a trunk because firing toward the back seat causes cancellation issues. But do not just cut a hole in your back seat, you should build a proper wall back there and remove the back seats. Get subs that are reccomended for infinite baffle installations, or have a box inside the trunk, built into your wall.

you can do a pretty stealthy system with a box. take out the seat build the box butt up against the back of the seat(backward firing) then make your trim peices to look like its a solid wall as you look into the trunk . you can even do matching grills to look flush and covered in matching material. depending on the sub/car the box might only have to extend 7 to 10" from the back seat..
