I curentnly have sony 1000 watt amp....I know its a shitty amp but will have to do for now....I going to be getting two volfenhag 10" daul 4 ohm voice coils, to get rid of the sony explode 10...so i am going to wire them to put a 4 ohm load on the amp( shitty amp can only take 4 ohms bridged) I was just wondering if giveing the subs 500 watts rms from the amp is enough......I am going to upgrade the amp to but will this do for now.

dont really have the money for expenive subs right now plus i am getting the volfenhags pretty cheap like $60.
RE RE series subs are not expensive at all. They're about $60 a piece for 12"s I think. They'd definately be an improvement over the Volfenhags. As for that Sony amp, it's good that you already know it's a POS. Your subs will probally be getting 300-400w a piece rather than 500w.

I totally agree, you'd be much better off with RE RE's than with Volfenhag's. I dont consider Volfs an improvement over Sony's. Sony's have a poor rep (and well deserved imo), but Volf is Europe's Pyramid, stay away. And like was said, you can get some decent subs (RE's) for $60 also. If you are unwilling/unable to spend that much, I recommend saving up a bit longer till you can. I wouldn't wish Volfenhag on my worst enemy.
