Big difference in .65 and .85 air space for a single 10"?

I bought a Fosgate P1S4 10" and a Fosgate 500dx mono Amp for it.

I only listen to rock/classic rock music so looking for a sealed box.

I am shopping for a box and found a deal on a sealed .85 box but a few of my buddies tell me that .50-.65 is what I want.

Big difference in the air space? The .85 box is a "Bbox hatch" and is only $19.99, perfect for my budget.

Honestly id rather .85 for a 10. The sub will dispalce .05ish and leave you with a very ideal .75-.8. You can always tape a foam block to the inside if you wanna try less airspace.

I will test it next week when it comes. For example about how much air space would be taken out with like a 4"x4" foam square?

Also I assume you are referring to the cheap light white Styrofoam stuff like in packing material.

Also what about cotton? I have read that cotton in a box can make it more accurate for rock music, true?

basic math man. 4 x 4 x 4 = 64/1728 = .037 cubic feet

doesnt do sh*t compared to getting proper box specs. Is a sealed box anyways, how it sounds is not gonna change much at all. Its not a ported box which is a lot more advanced and tiny changes actually matter.

might actually like the sound of the bigger box better. Might be able to play a bit lower than the .65 box. Since it is prefab, I would go back in and double check it sealed good. Sometimes cheap boxes like that have air leaks
