Big difference between 1 and 1/0

1/0 is 0ga 1/0 2/0 3/0 determines the thickness of the shielding. 0ga is thicker than 1ga.
What? Are you saying 2/0 has the same conductor thickness as 1/0, 4/0 etc? I'm pretty sure that either I'm not understanding your reply correctly, or heavy into the opiates tonight.

That said I don't think I've ever seen 1 gauge, it goes from 2 to 1/0 to 2/0, etc. So what you're probably seeing is 1/0. I could be on smack too though.

there is 1 ga, but 1/0 is thicker. it can't cost that much more on welding supply, so i would just go with the 1/0. and since you're in chi, i ordered my wire at noon (25 ft and 3 ft sections), and got it at my door the next day. if you order 25 ft. rolls you get it faster.
