just wondering. I had the BIG 3 done by my qualified installer, but how do you know that it is actually working?? I know it sounds dumb, but how do you truly know extra current is being ran through my 3 new spots of 0/1 gauge wiring?? Any tests that you can do??

you can deff. do some type of before and after tests, but if you didnt test it before then you have nothing to compare the new results to. I dont know how you do it, but i know you can.

Maybe use a volt meter to see what you are getting at the amplifier with the music at full tilt.

ya a before and after test with the voltage would have helped.

well, how does the system compare to after the big 3 was done vs stock? do you have a volt meter? what the volt reading.

i need to at least try it on mine. my headlights dim pretty bad right now.
i guess its worth it to try it, but i was very disappointed . After reading a few responses to my Big 3 Disappointment thread i learned to just save money and upgrade the battery, then do BIG 3, then if problem still exists upgrade the alternator.

BTW if you dont mind me asking, how much did the qualified installer charge??

i was gonna have car audio shop do it while i was at work. but im not sure if is a universal thing or a CA.COM thing. so i dont wanna walk in and be like hey do you guys do the big 3 upgrade?

i just called my local car audio shop and they said they dont do that. his exact words "dude, you need a mechanic for that. I will try but i don't feel comfortable." so i passed on his offer to attempt it.

what kind of car? If you can locate the three existing wires and connection spots then i imagine you can do it yourself man. It took me about an hour and a half maybe two hours to do.

I fried an alternator and drained my battery numerous times before doing the big 3..after doing the big 3 in 2 gauge my voltage doesnt drop below 13 volts. Worked well for me. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif No real way to test except before and after though.

If your installer did indeed state this to you, I would NEVER have him install anything in your car.

It's just as, or easier, than changing your oil...

That may be true, but your audio installer probably wont change your oil either. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif The installer wasnt familiar with the Big 3, and didnt feel confortable doing it...doesnt seem like such a big deal to me. Atleast they didnt attempt to do something they had no idea about...

well, my installer didn't charge me for the BIG 3, but I was getting lots of equipment installed at the same time. Of course I just had to pay for the 0/1 gauge wiring. So I couldn't really do a before and after because along with the BIG 3 being done I was upgrading my amps and subs going from 1120 watts to 2100 watts so a before and after would have done me no good. I did tip him $100 for everything. So far everything seems good. I do have some minor dimming on big bass peaks, but other than that everything seems fine. Just wondering if there was an exact way to test to see if current is flowing through my newly added 0/1.
