Big 3 Question

2600 RMS on a 60 amp alt?
Dont try it lol, big three or no big three for that many watts you are going to want to upgrade your alt and add an extra battery (And get a nice one under teh hood)
espechially at 1 ohm

i would do the big three, try and check to makes sure you can do it with out haveing to remove anything kajor, allso up grade the batt.

I have a '99 Mazda 626, and I just put in a Kicker ZX1000.1 with two type r's wired at 2 ohms, so that's 1200 watts MAX, probably more like 900. The car runs fine, and I believe the lights just stay dim when the amp is on (hard to really tell, I don't get dimming when the subs hit, so I'm guessing they just stay dim), although I have a feelign the atlernator is working hella hard to sustain all the electricals. I added a 4 gauge ground wire to the crappy metal plate that the 626 uses to ground things (sanded that shit down). Besides the wire, electrical is stock with the exception of a replacement battery, which is some energizer standard car battery, nothing really special. I guess we're gonna have to see if the car explodes anytime soon, cause I really don't have the money for a better battery, or HO alternator for that matter right now, and wiring the rest of the big 3 is admittedly too much work on the mazda (yay engineers).

How much is a good battery for car audio, anyways?

Well thats a good sign, haha yea other than ground to -battery big 3 is a ***** on this car...not to mention tryin to replace the alt...

decent battery should be around $200 btw

Rashad, what about engine block to chassis ground, have you taken a look at where that might be possible on our cars?
That shouldn't be too hard..the engine is accessible, its just the alternator that I dont even know how to go about getting to. I read somewhere that to replace it people usually get the car lifted and do it from beneath it.

Ehhh... I only have 5 feet of wire as of right now to split between the two applications. I'll just work on grounding it, maybe even today after some grad parties... any ideas on where on the engine block I should bolt it and where on the chassis?

I'm in stlouis right now so I can't advise you by lookin at it but I'll let you know what I do when I get back next weekend, just try to find somewhere clean and that doesn't have resistance between it and the alt
