big 3 fail?

A 220 amp alt is almost 3x the size of the one you have now. And remember that 80a alt you have is not at idle. No factory alt is. So guesstimating your alt is only running 45-60 amps at idle or less. A 220 amp alt will idle at 120ish.

And an amp that is efficient still pulls power.

yeah the only model he had was adjustable voltage at idle and all that stuff... and i don't have that money nor will i have that money for a long time... so I'm kinda screwed... the only solutions I've heard are new alt. not gonna happen, another batt / and or upgrade the batt i have now, (this wouldn't help cuz I'm still only doing 80a.) or a cap or 2 which everyone on here hates?

cept for that one dude lmao

The big 3 isn't some magic fix for electrical inefficiencies. If you alt/battery can't supply the power you need then adding larger power won't fix your problem.
This. The Big 3 just slightly reduces the voltage drop. When I did mine, I only gained .3V on burps...better than nothing though.

Please stop recommending caps to ppl.... just stop

true. f***ing honda's... cars should just come stock with a 220a alt lol
Yeah they can make a bass ready package. Consists of 1/0 runs for an amp/s, big 3 in 1/0, eclipse headunit with 8v preouts, 220+ alt, fully sound deadened and for trunk cars enlarged trunks.

so imma check my ground and idk.. maybe look at getting a different car with a bigger alt. idk how well a different alt from Mitsubishi would work...

Unless you want to get into some hefty electrical modding, a H/O alt will do nothing. I have an 08 LX and came across this info after considering getting a new alt.

fml... i bought it used. (actually dad bought it lol) I'm only 17 so minimal wage part time after school is an arm and a leg. trying to get into the bobbie as much as possible but i gotta save for college and such.. considering a second job... CARAUDIO = VERY EXPENSIVE!!!!! $$$ //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/suicide.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif

manti5 : what kinda modding u talking about? i have 2/0 welding cable big 3 already done. 4 wag running through my car. 4 channel loc already spliced in. so all i could see being need to be done would be maybe a different wire set up d=for hooking up the alt. but id get one made for my car so there shouldn't be an issue. right? or am i totally missing it?

Wow, kinda baffled here. Once you get the tune right. You don’t need to mess with it. However, A bad tune you will. You may have different type...
