I am about to order a big 3 kit. Do you guys think there is much of a difference between CCA, OFC, and Tinned OFC when it come to the short runs of a big 3 kit?
Done the right way the cable strands shouldn't be exposed to the elements. Crimp the terminals, solder them, heat shrink the joint of the terminal to the jacket, then cover it all to mimic the factory wire runs. Paint over the connection to the engine or frame to keep oxygen out of the joint there too. If you're going to do all that then OFC would naturally be used as well.I wouldn't use CCA on the big 3 just because Aluminum doesn't hold up to the weather quite as well.
Exactly, the Big 3 is kind of a more permanent change, so when you start to get the wear and tear on the jacket and shrink wrap and get little holes starting, you don't want the wire inside to go bad.Done the right way the cable strands shouldn't be exposed to the elements.
