i have a 95 dodge and i can get at the engine block to the chasis and the negative battery to the chasis but i can not get at the altenator at all. its almost under my engine. Underneath i cant even get close to it. What do i have to do pull the engine foward then will i have room? who else has this problems

My car (03 SRT-4) is very similar. I just had to do it all by feel. There was a heat shield on the alt that had to be temporarily removed to get at the + post also.

Very much so. You just have to ba able to work without seeing what you're doing.

sounds like my engine...i tried doing big 3 in 0/1 but the cable was so big and the alt is so cramped that it wouldnt bolt up with the wire on the back lol....**** GM 3.4L dohc motors lol.....3800 sc'd swap (coming soon) FTMFW

Same as mine. Alternator is in the front, inbetween the engine and radiator. You have 6" max of space to work with and you cant see anything.

The alt on mine is on the bottom of the belt cluster on the passenger side up against the firewall. There is a crossmember keeping you from seeing it from below as well.

Get an audio shop or mechanic to do it for you!

May his is different than mine..mine is VERy difficult to run the wire from the alt to battery.

Mine wasn't easy. The wire runs across the entire engine bay, across the top of the engine and then to the very bottom of the engine bay against the firewall. It's a blind job, but still doable.

Hmm, well mine is on the front of the engine and you only have 4-5" inbetween the front of the engine and a cross member/radiator so it's almost impossible without a lift or ramps.

Can't even see or reach mine from the bottom. Only about 4-5" from the firewall. Have to find all the nuts by feel from the top around a heat shield. Took about an hour to do including wrapping the cale in split loom.

I have a 99 Chrysler Sebring Coupe, and I believe they are almost exactly the same cars. I had to put my car up on ramps and fiddle around underneath the car to get the alternator hooked up. Check out the thread I made about my Big 3 upgrade and see if it looks familiar.
