big 3 and warrenty

some dealers will *****, but im pretty sure they have to prove that your upgrade or what ever you did caused the failure to void the warranty.but id call them up and be for sure.

I used to work at a GM Dealer in the service department. There is no doubt if they think it is related they will try and blame it on your aftermarket parts. But don't think the dealer is just trying to get out of fixing things. The dealers take the money from you or General Motors corporate and they don't really care where it comes from. So if they can warranty it they will. And I don't see any reason the big three would affect any part of your warranty unless a loose wire resulted.

Also there is a law in place that protects consumers, stating that the manufacturer must prove your modification caused the failure to refuse a repair under warranty. So you are protected by laws as well. If your modification didn't cause the failure you have nothing to worry about.

listen to this guy, he knows what he is talking about. The dealer gets money either way but if they warranty stuff they aernt supposed to then there is an audit and it is a HUGE mess. I worked at dealerships for the past 9 years.

yeah i know i wasnt worried bout the electrical just my original warrenty that i was worried bout cause every once in a great while my car will have a hard time shifting like it jerks to shift but it hasnt done this for awhile now so thats why i was worried about my warrenty

I Wouldn't worry about it but it really depends on the dealer and your service contract. i do warranty work on diesels trucks that have power programmers and all kinds of aftermarket shit. its harder to get a warranty voided then it is to just fix it and keep the customer happy

The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act will be your protector in that event. I had Ford try to tell me the warranty on my engine was void because I lifted my truck. All it took was a talk with the regional rep for Ford and that dealer replaced my engine.

The dealers don't get paid for all of the warranty work, that's part of the deal. They have to service and warranty work for free much of the time so they try to stick the consumer with as much of the cost as possible. There's the reason I am no longer in dealer service, I can't spend my days ****ing customers.

thats good to hear, since i just done the big 3 last night to my car not a bad lil upgrade for your vehicle and also knowing that my warrenty won't be voided also makes me feel a lil bit secured about doing it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

That is a ridiculous statement. The only difference is that the dealer gets paid a lower labor rate then a customer would pay. For instance: The dealer I worked at charged $105 an hour for repairs paid for by customers. Then when the repair was under warranty they charged GM $85 an hour for the repair. Either way the dealer gets paid though.
