Best way to spend $400 on sub/amp

I'm looking to spend $400 max on a 12 inch subwoofer and a good amp that will power it nicely. This will be placed in a $100 pre-fab ported box with 1.75cubes tuned to 38 Hz (unless someone can give me a link to a better $100 prefab box?). I will not be able to build my own box, as I have absolutely 0 experience and am way too busy with school to attempt it.

I listen to mostly rap/hip-hop with the occassional techno/trance and rock song.

So far, the best bang for the buck I've found is:

eD 13Ov.2 + nine.2x = $360

OR I could save $60 and get the eD 13kv.2 instead. Would it be worth the extra $60 to buy the Ov.2?

idk about the subs and amp but that 100 prefab is junk find a local audio store and ask them to build you one i promise its worth it

i say look in the classified section for amps and subwoofers...there the best place to get items you are looking for....especially cheaper then retail price....

What would be a good enough amp to power the CVX? It would have to be around $200ish..

btw I know you guys are mostly against eD, but on a unbiased stance, is the 13Ov.2 really that bad?

check your stereo shops for a killer deal, i got my 12" eclipse on a buy one get one free sale, so a 400 sub cost 200. as for the amp i just bought a cheap sony xplode 1200 watt from circuit city for 200.

the amp came with two cheap subs that you couldnt give away, but anyway, i still have one hooked up.

i have a total of about 700 into my setup and it bumps pretty good

I have an Acura RSX Type S with the bose system. It is a small hatchback so it should bump pretty hard
