best way to seal a small slit on a surround

all the surround is still there, theres just a little slit/cut, you can push the little flap of surround and make a whole, then the flap goes back up, so it LOOKS sealed, but its not, since the cut is there (im a noob, drill bit slipped, lol:verymad

is there any specific kind of silicone or something i should use that works best? should i seal from inside and outside of the surround as well?

its an 18" mt.

I did the same thing when i was like 19 and i used clear nail polish on the back of the surround. Worked fine and never came apart again.
