Best way to improve midbass?

i'm not sure what your talking about when you say "clip", but you deading it all, then you stick 3/4 of your sized speaker mdf on the door and stick your speaker on it, its as simple as that...
the speaker grill on most door panels allows quite a bit of room for the speaker, so putting a ring in there is not the prob, its with all the deadener on the door itself that gets in the way when you go to put the panel back on. thats what i was talking about.

i'll most likely only need a single layer for my project. my question was generic about other cars i've dealt with with clips to secure the door panel.
well then you make your own wholes and screw the mdf in the door panel if the clip doesnt work. no?

Do not deaden over the screw holes where the plastic door panel screws into the metal door itself and do not deaden over the clips (door pops) and you will be fine. I have 5 layers of damp in some places on my door and fitment is no problem.
